“Fun & Games, and Grass-fed Burgers, too at The Moxie Spot.”

Foosball, board games, music, and arts and crafts are served along with grass-fed hanger steak sandwiches, spaghetti Bolognese, and house-roasted Chinese duck at the newly opened family-friendly Brooklyn joint, The Moxie Spot.

The Moxie Spot is owned by Nat Rubin, a former manager of Tribakery, and father of two who wanted to create a place where he could go with his children for good food, without dropping $80. His two-story restaurant designed by Chelsea Market architects Vandeberg, was built with an eye toward family fun. Upstairs, the restaurant offers kid-friendly playtime along with group activities led by the restaurant staff and organized by The Moxie Spots in-house Creative Director—Emily Terte, a former elementary school teacher. (How great is that?) There’s music and yoga for toddlers in the morning, to art activities and games for middle schoolers in the afternoon, and group party games for teens and adults in the early evening.

On the first floor, parents and kids can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner courtesy of consulting chef Josh Eden of Shorty’s 32, who has designed a crowd-pleasing casual menu for adults and kids alike. (Eden's pal from 66, Chris McGee, is executing the menu.) Breakfast starts out at 8am with sticky buns, scones, omelets, pancakes, bacon and sausage, lunch kicks off an all day menu of snacks (nachos, buffalo wings), sandwiches (Philly Cheesesteak, meatball parmigiana, BLTs, and more), grilled pizzas, fish-fries, and blue plates like fried chicken with mashed potatoes, Asian BBQ pork chops with salad and rice, roast chicken with rice, and mussels Marniere with fries.

The Moxie Spot is located at 81-83 Atlantic Avenue, at Hicks Street, 718-923-9710, www.themoxiespot.com.
