“Campo to open on Thursday”
Opening this Thursday April 17th is Campo, the latest trattoria from the master of the everyman restaurant, Jeremy Wladis. Like Nonna, his Upper West Side Italian, Campo is meant to be a come-as-you-are local spot that will serve easy Italian menu slightly north of Nonna on Upper Broadway, between 112th and 113th Streets.
The chef is David Rotter, who mastered the art of grilled pizza at Gonzo and will bring them to this rough-hewn trattoria with exposed brick walls, a burgundy painted tin ceiling, a marble topped bar and doors that open to the street. His menu gets things started with roasted asparagus with fried egg, pancetta and Parmesan, arancini, and housemade meatballs, in addition to a full selection of antipasti, meats and cheeses. includes those pastas (orchiette with pistachio pesto and roasted cauliflower, linguini and clams) alongside those signature grilled pizzas from Al Forno (forest mushroom and ricotta or smoked mozz and sweet sausage) and entrees like brick chicken alla diavolo, and pork barciole with creamy parmesan polenta.
Campo opens Thursday and is located at 2888 Broadway, between 112th and 113th Street, 212-864-1143.
