“Market Table has dropped Market..more seating for you!”
Market Table has dropped the market. Last night chef-owner Mikey Price made it official, turning the front room that once housed a general store into a dining room with seating for eight. Over the next few weeks he’ll add a circular banquette and a six-seat food bar, increasing the restaurant’s seating from 40 to 60.
While the market is technically no longer, he’ll keep his deli case stocked with Pat LaFrieda meat and burgers, as well as beef, lamb, poultry, smoked meats and cheeses for retail sale. Market Table is the only restaurant to sell LaFrieda meats retail, they are only wholesale. If you’re planning a barbecue, this is the place to get your beef.
Mikey has also opened a 20-seat private dining room downstairs that’s perfect for parties, brunches, showers, engagement dinners and the like.
Market Table (which will still be called Market Table and not Table Table) is located at 54 Carmine Street, 212-255-2100.

Hopefully, the loss to the diner's eye and the spirit of the space will be only gain for the owners and their customers!
