“A Few Notes for Fall Feasting (Char No. 4 and Co.)”
Coming this fall, a down-home American restaurant and whiskey bar with a Southern influence (and lots of BBQ) will open at 196 Smith Street (718-643-2106) from sommelier and barbecue lover Sean Josephs, who is Tia Pol’s Mani Dawes’ husband, and who was most recently was the sommelier at Primehouse. The restaurant will be called Char No. 4., and Matt Greco, who cooked with Andrew Carmelini at A Voce, will be the chef.
You can also expect a new spot from Jim Lahey, the founder of Sullivan St Bakery. He plans to open Co. this fall in Chelsea. The restaurant will celebrate bread as a special centerpiece of a meal rather than an obligatory roll at the side of the dinner plate.
For more on fall's best openings, check out Robin and Rob's excellent reporting in New York Magazine.
More to come.
