“Baoguette ”
Chef/Owner Thao Nguyen (Michael Bao Hyunh’s wife) is peddling a homemade menu of authentic (and cheap) Vietnamese sandwiches, salads, rolls, and noodles at this new sliver of a shop for eat in (at one of 10 stools) or take out in the Gramercy Area.
On the sandwich menu you’ll find the signature Baoguette (a classic Banh Mi layered with pork terrine, pate, pulled pork, and fresh herbs, $5), as well as spicy red curry corned beef topped with caramelized sweet onion, and pickled jalapenos ($7), and catfish with cucumber relish, pickled red onion, and honey mustard sauce ($7).
Beyond sandwiches you’ll find green papaya salad with tiger shrimp, mint, peanut, lime dressing ($5), chicken salad with Napa cabbage, herbs, and lime dressing ($5), fresh shrimp summer roll stuffed with lettuce, bean sprout, herbs, and vermicelli ($5) and noodle dishes including a hue style spicy beef & pork noodle soup ($7), grilled meat ball vermicelli noodles with cucumber herb salad, peanut, lime sauce ($7), and bbq chicken vermicelli noodles dressed with lettuce, herbs, peanut ($7). To drink there's Vietnamese coffee (hot and cold) and fresh squeezed sugar cane juice ($4).
