“Anselmo's Coal Oven Pizza Coming to Red Hook”

Stay tuned later this month for Anselmo’s, a brand new old-school coal oven pizza place owned by Jack Stella and Anselmo Garcia. Stella, who worked for almost a decade at a pizzeria in Bay Ridge he owned with his mom, was in the process of demolishing the space first intended as a bakery when he discovered a relic of a coal oven in the rubble. He quickly scratched his plans to open a bakery and switched gears to create a friendly neighborhood spot for coal-fired Neapolitan pizzas. His menu is still in the works while they get the oven temperatures up to speed, but expect small and large pies with a variety of toppings.

Anselmo’s is located at 354 Van Brunt Street in Red Hook and will open in 2-3 weeks.
