“Umi Nom opens July 29th”
Kuma Inn’s King Phojanakong will open Umi Nom, a fun new Southeast Asian eatery in Clinton Hill, just across the street from PRATT, next week on Wednesday July 29th.
Filipino for “to drink,” Umi Nom will feature an extensive sake bar (with upwards of 20 sakes by the glass) in addition to a Southeast Asian menu that offers a slate of new dishes, other than Kuma Inn’s signature sweet Chinese sausage with Thai chili lime sauce and sticky rice.
Under small plates you’ll find the likes of fried tilapia with wasabi tobiko aiolli ($10), pan roasted salmon with coconut basil green curry ($11), bbq ribs with garlic, ginger, lemongrass, and oyster sauce marinade ($11), wok prawns with chili glaze ($11) and griddled beef patties with house pickles (and a little pork thrown in too, $10).
The menu at Umi Nom will also include bowls of noodles and rice like shrimp pad thai ($10), chicken pad see ew ($1), and Bahay fried rice with chicken, sausage, shrimp, egg, soy and garlic ($11). For dessert, try te warm Thai chili chocolate cake ($8).
The restaurant, which was gutted, was transformed from its former self as a Laundromat into a 60-seat spot with a garden. It will be open for lunch eventually, with a mini noodle bar and Asian sandwich menu, as well as dinner.
Umi Nom is located at 433 Dekalb Avenue, corner of Classon, 718-789-8806. Hours: Open daily at 6pm. Sun to Thurs, till 11pm and Friday and Saturday until midnight. For more information, visit www.uminom.com.
Enjoy!
