“Twitter For Your Dinner”

If someone told you all that stood between you and a James Beard House dinner filled with Jack Daniel cocktails and Hill Country barbecue was a 140-word recipe, you’d enter in a heartbeat, right? After all, how hard can it be? Enter Twitter.

The James Beard Foundation is sponsoring a Twitter recipe contest and you have until August 14 to enter. If you win, you’ll receive two tickets to an exclusive Jack Daniel’s birthday party at the Beard House on September 9. Celebrity mixologist David Wondrich will concoct a number of special cocktails before Hill Country barbecue is served and Duff Goldman of Ace of Cakes whips up a fancy cake. We can’t stick to 140 words but here are the deets:

• Tweet your recipe in 140 characters or fewer and be sure to include the hashtag #jbfrecipe by August 14.
• The top 15 entries will be on display at the Beard House blog Delights & Prejudices (http://www.jamesbeard.org/blog/) and the five most popular recipes advance to the finals.
• On August 21, a number of chefs, cookbook authors and journalists will gather at the Beard House for a tasting of the top five recipes. They’ll choose a winner, who will be revealed on the blog on August 24.
• Besides two tickets to the party, the winner will also have their recipe posted on the James Beard Foundation’s recipe section along the likes of Eric Ripert and of course, James Beard himself.
