“Forty Eight Opens Monday”

Care for a bite, or forty-eight of them? A new midtown cocktail lounge is coming to town on Monday, August 17th, that promises to be an upscale retreat for a high-end happy hour or late night lounging session. Echoing the restaurant’s namesake, a rotating menu of 48 bar snacks will be available ranging from happy hour snacking staples to modern takes on the classics, along with a full menu with dishes such as meatballs with honey and pineapple glaze, an open-gaced BLT and a selection of plates for sharing including a Butcher’s Platter of charcuterie for those hungry for more. Food throughout the night will encourage all to stick around and sink into the simple and plush lounge furniture under the Swarovski-lit ceiling above.

Entrepreneur Brian Packin (Stone Rose) and Real Estate Exec David Nader strive to create an atmosphere where the drinks will do the talking and the fun will follow. Sourcing a wide range of wines from the sommeliers at NY’s bottle shop, Crush Wines and with Anthony Caporale, Producer and Host of Art of the Drink TV, behind the cocktail menu, it seems like the owners will get their wish. Signature drinks include a French Forty Eight (Gin, Ginger Liqueur, lemon juice, champagne and a dash of rosewater) and the Angel’s Heart, (Vanilla Vodka, Pomegranate Liqueur, grenadine, cream and a graham cracker rim), inspired by an oversized Peter Lik panoramic photo that adorns the walls.

Forty Eight is located in the McGraw Hill Building at Rockefeller Center at 1221 Avenue of the Americas,  www.48nyc.com. Forty Eight will be open Monday - Thursday; 4 pm - 2 am, Friday & Saturday; 4 pm – 4 am.
