Chefs for Scher Benefit

In celebration of the life of Steven Scher, one of the most influential restaurateurs of his time, on Monday, July 13th, friends and colleagues will join forces to acknowledge and remember him in a most appropriate gastronomic festival at the Bowery Terrace (at the Bowery Hotel).

Some of the city’s biggest culinary hot shots such as Laurent Tourondel (BLT Restaurants), Ed Brown (Eighty-One), Scott Conant (Scarpetta), Bobby Flay (Mesa Grill, Bar Americain,) and Paul Liebrandt (Corton), will host a walk-around tasting where exceptional Zyr cocktails and flowing Le Dû’s Wines will be paired with these chef’s signature dishes that are sure to make your mouth water.

A roster of talented individuals whom Scher has impacted have organized an impressive selection of silent and live auction items up for dibs, such as passes to the NY Wine and Food Festival and dinners at some of the most hard to get into restaurants, including the elusive Roa’s, to raise money towards the Steven Scher Memorial Scholarship for Aspiring Restaurateurs in association with The James Beard Foundation, keeping Scher’s name and spirit alive.
