Help Fight Ovarian Cancer with the Cowgirl Foundation
Babbo’s executive pastry chef Gina DePalma defied the odds. Diagnosed with ovarian cancer last June, DePalma survived a major surgery and chemo treatments. She’s now in remission and hasn’t slowed down (she’s up for a James Beard award). Mario Batali, Joe Bastianich and Jim Lahey are hosting a fundraiser to celebrate DePalma and to support The Cowgirl Foundation, which DePalma started as a non-profit to benefit ovarian cancer research at The Mount Sinai Medical Center. The fundraiser takes place on Monday, May 18th from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Lahey’s Co. Pizzeria. Tickets are $250 per person. Besides an online benefit auction (www.ginadepalma.net/Online_Auction.html) that goes live on May 11, an auction at the event includes a multi-course dinner with wine pairings for four at Babbo, pizza-making lesson and lunch for six with Lahey at Co. and a dessert party and lesson for four at your home with DePalma. The Cowgirl Foundation benefit takes place at Co., located at 230 Ninth Ave. (at 24th St.), tickets can be purchased at: https://app.e2ma.net/app/view:CampaignPublic/id:28401.1886737475/rid:e69e7248dc6a4e2e0284a571c16fb0fc
