You’ve been watching the images of the oil spill on TV, reading about the disaster in the papers, and wondering how you can help. Well, on Friday it’s as easy as going out to dinner. Here in the city, join fellow diners for Dine Out for the Gulf at Print Restaurant which will donate 10% of all sales (bfast, lunch and dinner) to this great cause. Saturday: Customer Appreciation Barbecue at Fairway
The parking lot of Fairway Market in Harlem (2284 12th Ave at 126th Street) will be the stage for a great outdoor bash complete with free food, drinks and entertainment from 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday, June 12, 2010. Dinosaur Bar-be-Que, Fairway’s neighbor , will be serving up ribs galore, and is joined by dozens of vendors, including Pepperidge Farm, Red Bull, Entenmann’s, Utz, Goya, Boar’s Head and Snyder’s, offering drinks, desserts, salads and sides to go along with the grilled hot dogs, hamburgers, and sausages to be enjoyed throughout the day. Raffles, T-shirts, hats, music and more will be part of the festivities. And it’s free!!!
Seaside Saturdays at Inside Park (for two or 200!)
Get ready for a long, lazy afternoon at the beach right here in the city at Inside Park at St. Bart’s (325 Park Avenue at 50th Street, 212-593-3333, www.insideparknyc.com) Seashore Saturdays, served our on the patio (or inside in the chilly air conditioning) every Saturday, rain or shine, from 11:30 am to 10:00 pm.
Chef Matthew Weingarten’s Seashore Saturday menu includes (natch) a clambake: One-Half Lobster, Clams, Mussels, Head-On Shrimp, Spicy Linguiça Sausage, Corn, and Carola Potatoes – all piled into blue-steel pans with a touch of white wine, carrot, green pepper and onions; covered in a bed of seaweed and fresh herbs before being roasted on the embers of their wood-fired oven. It’s served with traditional potato rolls for dunking and lemon wedges. Price is $36 per person. (From Tuesday to Friday, the Clambake can be pre-ordered 24 hours in advance for two or 200, and is served from 2:00 pm to closing.)
Also at the Seashore Saturdays you’ll find Raw Bar Selections, Wedge Salad, sides like Sheldon Farms’ Carola Potato Fries with smoked onion remoulade; and Wood-Fired Pizzettes like the one with littlenecks, garlic cream, parmesan and herbed breadcrumbs. And, From the Surf: Peel and Eat Shrimp, Market Fish and Chips, Lobster Fra Diavalo and more; From the Turf: Grass Fed Ribeye or Burger, and House-Cured Corned Beef Reuben.
To wash it all down, order up a nice icy cld bucket of beer: six bottles of your choice for $36; or get a combo bucket of two champagne splits and four beers for $52.
