“Two Hours of Happiness, Village Weeekender Basket, Picnic in the Park with Payard”

Friday Night: “Two Hours of Happiness” Happy Hour Challenge
The Aussies know how to get the weekend started off right. Two Down Under spots, Bondi Road (153 Rivington Street) and the Sunburnt Cow (137 Avenue C), have thrown down the gauntlet and issued a happy hour challenge. Every Monday through Friday between 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm each location features "Two Hours of Happiness"—unlimited tap beer, wine, their famous "Moo-Juice" house cocktails (passion fruit tequila, strawberry, orange at the Sunburnt Cow and Mango vodka, pineapple and Midori at Bondi Road), and well-spirits for two hours for only $20 per person! Both restaurants also feature an Australian "Toss the Boss" tradition. Win a coin toss and the check (for you and up to five friends) is on the house. How can you turn that down?

Sunday: Picnic in the Park with Payard

This Sunday, bring your own watercolors and spend the afternoon daydreaming in the park with an overstocked picnic basket from Payard Pâtisserie. Their “Leisurely Picnic for Two” ($48) includes a wicker hamper fully-loaded with two sandwiches (choices like prosciutto, ricotta & marscapone cheese with fresh spinach on foccacia bread), two summer quiches, two flourless chocolate cookies, a half-pound of financier cookies and two bottles of Fiji water. Bring your own wine and you’re all set.

You can order your picnic basket the day-of by walking in to the Patisserie, and choose from a variety of sandwiches and quiches. And you can always add on items from the Patisserie to pack into the picnic basket for an additional cost. 24 hour notice is always appreciated of course, but not required. Payard is located at 1032 Lexington Avenue, between 73rd and 74th Streets, 212-717-5252.
